  1. Highlight whichever rightNav ## H2 is currently at top of browser display.

Some articles are longer than most, and have more ## H2 sections than most (and long articles are good). When I vertically scroll further into the article, I often can no longer see which H2 section the scroll is in. Comprehending the article becomes problematic, like a floor map that lacks a "You Are Here" indicator. Therefore...
Please auto-highlight (color, bold) whichever rightNav H2 link corresponds to the current vertical scroll location. Thanks. GeneMi 2017/11/03

    • Search needs to have filtering options

Finding the right article is much too hard on docs.microsoft.com. For example, searching for Server Manager (in Windows Server 2016) brings up 36 000+ results, with the first page all about SQL Server. It should now be possible to filter the results based on product so that I get to Win 2016, or whatever.

      • Please provide a class summary table like MSDN had

        Example:
        https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/api/Windows.UI.Xaml.Controls.Grid
All the inherited members are just a giant unformatted sea of hyperlinks. And for everything implemented by the class, it's a giant scrolling page trying to find anything. Old MSDN had a nicely formatted summary table listing all of the class's members, properties, and events, with hyperlinks and a brief description of the member. It's *incredibly* difficult to now to get an "at a glance" view of what a class actually does.

        • Don't pop up an animated twitter logo every time I select text

I often visit an API documentation page and select some text to copy into my code editor. Now with short selections, the web page renders a slow, distracting animation with a bouncing twitter logo and a facebook logo. I don't understand why you think I want to tweet your documentation, ever. And even if I were to ever want to do this, I'll use copy + paste to get it done; I don't need a giant button in the middle of the screen.

Please delete the popups. No popups for any reason. Especially not animated bouncing twitter logos.

          Example URL: …

          • Add the option to turn translation off by default

Please add the option to turn translation off by default. The translations are far from usable (Dutch in my case) and now I constantly have to scroll all the way down to the language button en select English. Very annoying.

            • Improve site navigation

The docs site doesn't feel like a coherent whole. There are too many tabs and menus and many navigate out to different websites. Plus it's always difficult to know how to get back to the root of the site. E.g. i've been clicking around the Docs on Microsoft Edge and now i want to get back to the .NET Core documentation. How do i get there? The Microsoft logo in the top left takes me to Microsoft.com, not docs.microsoft.com. The only way i can see is to retype the URL or click back button maybe a dozen or more times.

              • Add better overview

When looking at the uwp documentation compared to good old MSDN i realized that it is hard to get an overview of apis.
If I want to know the methods of a class for example i often have to scroll a lot just to get an overview what methods are defined. A compact list like we have on Namespaces would help. Also I would love to collapse things like examples. Examples are important but to get an overview of the api they are taking up a lot of scrolling space.

Thank you for the feedback! We are currently working on ensuring that the UWP documentation is presented in the same way as other managed APIs on docs.microsoft.com – once the transition is done, we will be able to leverage a better page layout.

                • Use ISO date format yyyy-mm-ddd

Can all dates on Microsoft technical sites be in ISO 8601 format? Only the US uses the illogical date format mm-dd-yyyy so instead of going to UK format which is better but will confuse US users please set all dates to yyyy-mm-dd which everyone can read easily. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601

                  • Reintroduce link to original page for translated pages

At least in my language (German) the result of the automatic translation is often really bad, especially regarding the structure of the sentences. To use the popup windows referring to the original page is quite annoying if the complete page is translated badly. In previous versions there were links to the original English page, please reintroduce them. Would help a lot!
                    Example of bad translation: https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/sql/odbc/reference/syntax/sqlcolumns-function

                    • Wrong Translation

The left menu in english (en-us) have a subsection "Hosting" under "Hosting and deployment".
In french and other languages, the subsection is about "Hosting WPF" which is wrong because this section is about Asp.Net applications

                      • Remove automatic share buttons\context menu of LiveFyre comments editor

LiveFyre comments editor is showing giant context menu each time text selection made (Shift+arrows). The only way to remove this monstrosity is mouse click.

This menu contains share buttons and totally useless.

                        • In the API Browser, MicrosoftEextensions should be documented under .NET Core too

The Microsoft.Extensions libraries appear only under ASP.NET Core although they can be used by any .NET Project. This is confusing developers, as shown in this SO question:

                          https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46914981/why-is-microsoft-extensions-documented-under-asp-net

Please display the Microsoft.Extensions libraries under `.NET Core` as well as `ASP.NET Core`

                          • Include a search box with the search query on the search results page

After searching on the docs, the search result page doesn't include a search box with the search terms to allow me to fine-tune my search based upon the results. This is contrary to Bing, Google, and search experience standards for many years.

The filter box replaced the search box in the old ACOM documentation, but the filter box only filters by article title. I want to be able to search the contents of the articles for the service I'm viewing using that box.

                              • Organize information better

It's horrible. Absolute HORRIBLE ! I couldn't think that microsoft doc is so poorly organized.
I'm trying to learn MVC. I started 2 weeks ago. And resources are awful, outdated (back to 2009), no REAL organization. Just a bunch of how-to-do-this-and-that.
I may be stupid, but not that stupid. After two weeks, i'm able to use just a bunch of classes already declared in bootstrap, HtmlHelper and a few Html i already now.
UI,Layouts and themes category in doc is ALMOST NOTHING. All it does is to show you how to use PageInspector, which isn't even included in VS 2017…

Amazing that MS calls "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/windows-diagnostic-data" 'a comprehensive document explaining to users what telemetry data is collected, as I can not understand anything of the junk you put on that page, or be able to compare it with "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/basic-level-windows-diagnostic-events-and-fields" the basic telemetry settings of Win X, and then you dare to say that the Dutch DPA got it all wrong lolz.

All I can say to these documents that seem to be intended to make stuff incomprehensible for the average user and pro alike, is that I have become a happy Linux user ever since you brought…

                                  • Why are there several options in doing the same thing?

PS and gui i understand there has to be one way on each..... But having multiple buttons in the gui doing the same thing just asks for trouble and missunderstanding...

                                    Keep it simple and small!!!

                                    • .NET page for end users

There needs to be a page or documentation which is kept up-to-date that outlines in simple, non-technobabble, statements what versions of .NET Framework that end users could or should find on their system. It should link to each version that is necessary for all programs that have used .NET to work. It should also specify whether all dependencies from previous versions are included or some. For example, there is no clear page which would say whether .NET Framework 4.7 includes all the dependencies from 4.0, 4.5, 4.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6.1, and 4 .6.2. Similarly, there is nothing stating whether 1.1 and…

                                        • Make it easier to find pages using Google search

Usually when I'm looking for information I'll do a search on Google. For instance when searching a method in the framework API, like "Convert.ChangeType". Currently it will always point to msdn.microsoft.com and it is impossible for me to find the page I want at docs.microsoft.com even when using "site:". It either just doesn't find it or it will be a page not in English. Bing also doesn't show docs.microsoft.com on the first search page.

The API pages on msdn.microsoft.com have a link to docs.microsoft.com but then I have to type the search query again, which is not a good experience.
